Food Blog

Maybe I should make this into a food blog.  I tried to write down what I eat in a food journal on notebook paper but it didn't work very well and I abandoned it several days into it.  My blood sugar has been a little bit all over the place.  I think it is because I haven't been sticking to my diet very well.  Maybe it will be a diabetic blog.  That includes food and what my blood sugars are.

So anyways I woke up with a blood sugar of 92 this morning.  I didn't eat anything for a before bed snack last night.  My target for morning fasting is under 95.  That is pretty good for that target.  Breakfast was two hard boiled eggs, 3/4 cup of cornflakes, and 1/2 cup of milk in the cereal.  No carbs in the eggs, 24 in a serving of corn flakes, and 11 in a serving of milk.  1 serving of cornflakes and 1 serving of milk is 1 cup so about 18 carbs for the cornflakes and 5.5 for the milk.  My allowable carbs for breakfast is 45, three servings of 15 carbs.  My blood sugar was 93 about an hour after eating.  I ate so few for breakfast because sometimes cereal makes it go higher than desired.  My after meal target is 140.  I would say that is definitely under the target and maybe should have had a few more.

Lunch was a package of ramen with several drops of Louisiana hot sauce in it and 1 cup of milk maybe a bit more since I didn't measure but my little red glasses hold 1 cup to a cup and a half.  The ramen is two servings for one package.  One serving has 26 carbs which makes the package 52.  The milk added about 11 so 63 ish carbs and my lunch and supper target is 60, four 15 carb servings of carbs.  That is a little higher than desired so we will see what it does to my blood sugar when I check.  I still have to wait 43 minutes to check.  Hopefully the lower breakfast carbs will cancel out my higher lunch carbs.

Added: After lunch blood sugar was 98.  I am not really sure why they are so low today.  I mean they aren't dangerously low I don't think, but every time I tested it has been under 100.  That is a little strange.

Added: One glass of milk for an afternoon snack.

Supper: Tin Foil Packs.  I don't know the carbs for it for sure but I think the potato was about one serving worth.  Also had carrots in it which has about six carbs per 3 oz of carrots.  I tested about an hour after eating and it was 113.

We went to the movies and split a small popcorn, Milk Duds, and Diet Dr Pepper.  I could see that pushing me over.  I will test before bed and try to remember to post it tomorrow.
